On August 5 the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan received Dagmar Bott, the Head of the German Agency for International Cooperation Armenia Office (GIZ). The Chairman of the Committee of the RA NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs Gagik Minasyan also attended the meeting.

Welcoming the guest in the parliament, the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan noted that the Agency led Mrs Bott since 2009 within the framework of a series of programmes had closely cooperated with and provided support to the RA National Assembly, the RA Control Chamber and the RA Ministry of Finance in the implementation of the reforms invested in the programme budgeting. The Head of the Parliament noted with satisfaction that within the framework of the regional programme “Public Financial Management in the South Caucasus” the cooperation had registered positive result.

Galust Sahakyan welcomed the programme of the next phase and positively evaluated the programme being implemented for the rise of efficiency of parliamentary oversight in the financial management in the system, within framework of which the RA NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs had recorded progress towards the strengthening of legislative oversight.

Mr Sahakyan documented that as a result of close cooperation between the programme led Mrs Bott and the Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs, the necessary legal field for creation of the independent budgetary office had been worked out and established. The RA NA Speaker also highlighted the training programme aimed at the continuous development of the professional abilities of the employees of the parliament committees in the sphere of programme budgeting which will be one of the functions of the budgetary office.

Dagmar Bott thanked the RA NA Speaker for the reception and for supporting the Office programmes. She expressed hope that the programmes of the German Agency for International Cooperation Armenia Office will be continuous and effective from now on too.
